Bio

Asma Olajuwon is a first-generation Nigerian-American Muslim woman originally from Houston, Texas. She is a painter and poet now based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. She has been an artist as long as she could remember. Her passion for art started with mini sculptures made from Play-Doh and developed into her turning her college apartment into her own gallery. She began writing poetry in an 8th grade creative writing class and since has performed on large stages. Her art is the reflection of the world as she sees through the lens of intersectionality. She especially works to uplift black and Muslim women.
